Redwood City hosts its fifth annual Salsa Festival on Sept. 29. Encompassing 11 city blocks in downtown Redwood City, the event is a showcase of homemade and professionally made salsa, premium tequila, food and lots of live music.

Amateur and professional salsa chefs will compete for prizes at the Salsa Tasting and Competition, where the public takes part in the judging. Public tasting is from noon to 5pm. Local restaurants and food vendors will also offer food throughout the day.

For kids, there will be a free, hands-on art project and a children’s play area with bounce houses, carnival rides and other activities. Three stages will feature Latin rock, salsa and Latin jazz music all day long and into the evening. Go to www.redwoodcity.org for more info.
