UV: What's the best place for inspiration in the Bay Area?
MN: Mountain View Cemetery.

UV: What kind of music do you like?
MN: Classical, opera, and lots of alternative rock.

UV: Where would your ideal show be held?
MN: A retrospective at the Whitney in New York and I'm certain that if I stick with it, it'll happen.

UV: Who are three other Bay Area artists that inspire you?
MN: The three B's -- Elmer Bischoff, Chris Brown, and Bob Bruman.

UV: Do you conceptualize a piece beforehand or give reign to spontaneity?
MN: It's about 50/50. Since I consider my work expressive, I want to capture and express that element and energy of spontaneity and surprise, yet still have some control over its direction.
