UV: What were you thinking when you made this cover photograph?
JK: It's not about thinking but more about the sensation of bliss that I get.
UV: Who or what are your biggest influences?
JK: The beauty of nature and my friends were big influences, both encouraged me with great passion to create FlorendipityTM Photography and to start showing my work to the public.
UV: Describe your relationship to your medium?
JK: FlorendipityTM Photography is dear to me, it's a living thing like a flower that blooms and dies. In 1997 I was at a turning point in my life where everything seemed possible and that I was given a seed to plant, to nurture, and love. So my relation-ship to my work is love.
UV: Tell us about your method?
JK: FlorendipityTM is my method. It represents the serendipitous way I photograph flowers with my 1972 Nikon F2. It is completely natural, done without the use of filters, trick lenses, or any digital manipulation. I don't even use a tripod. I use mirrors to wash the flower with sun and my unsteady hand to capture the living moment. Other than that I have a secret thing I use and I'm not telling anyone about it!
UV: What is the bizarre comment you've ever received about your work?
JK: "Do you drug the flowers when you photograph them or are you on drugs when you photograph?" -- I don't take drugs, art is my drug and it takes me! What is the most bizarre comment you've ever received about your work?
