BEACH RaT

A useful service for WWW do-it-yourselfers. I'm not entirely clear on why it's called "BEACH RaT," but this interactive site performs one task, a worthy task: it takes RGB values, the three-number combinations used by graphics programs to indicate colors, and converts them to hexadecimal codes, the confusing combinations of numbers and letters that Netscape 1.1 uses to create the same (more or less) colors. You obtain an RGB value from Adobe Photoshop--or pretty much any graphics editor--type it into the BEACH RaT form, click, and presto! No more screwing around with those annoying "E43FA7" combinations until you get just that right shade of puke green, or whatever you're shooting for. (JV)
