The Journal of Scientific Exploration

Carl Sagan wouldn't touch this site with a ten-foot caliper--which is why it's so cool. The JSE is the online journal of the Stanford University-based Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE), an organization of otherwise respectible academics who are into weird X-Files-ish science. Just check out the articles: "Experiments in Remote Human-Machine Interaction," "Report of an Indian Swami Claiming to Materialize Objects," and "Alleged Experiences Inside UFOs." These guys are neither true believers nor knee-jerk debunkers. They're just more open minded than dogmatic. Says SSE president and founder Peter A. Sturrock, a professor of plasma physics at Stanford, "Some phenomena, if they prove to be real, will challenge our established scientific beliefs. . . . The fact that some topics seem curious, even bizarre, does not mean that they should be ignored." The truth is out there--way out there. (JW)
