Running Shoes
"Running Fence @ 25" features exhibits at four venues around Sonoma County, as well as an appearance by Christo and Jeanne-Claude, a play, and a symphony performance.

An Afternoon with Christo and Jeanne-Claude
This slide show and lecture with the artists takes place on Saturday, Sept. 22, 4 to 6 p.m. at the Santa Rosa High School Auditorium, 1235 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa. Admission is $5; students, free. Gala dinner with the artists to follow. Cost is $100. 707/579-1500.

Global Projects
A study of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work done outside of California is on exhibit Aug. 23-Sept. 30 at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. Opening reception: Aug. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. 6821 Laguna Park Way, Sebastopol. 707/829-4797.

Tom's Golden Odyssey
A look at the "cultural anthropology" of Running Fence, Aug. 31-Oct. 28 at the Sonoma County Museum. Opening reception: Aug. 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. 425 Seventh St., Santa Rosa. 707/579-1500.

Celebrity, Canon & Myth
An examination of how Running Fence entered our culture is on exhibit Sept. 3-28 at the University Library Art Gallery at the Jean and Charles Schulz Information Center, Sonoma State University, 1801 E. Cotati Ave., Rohnert Park. 707/664-4240.

Early Works
Exploring the start of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's career, this diplay is on view Sept. 5-Dec. 2 at the Sonoma Museum of Visual Art's Foyer Gallery, 50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa. 707/527-0297.

Santa Rosa Symphony
The symphony performs on the theme of Running Fence on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the Wednesday Night Market, downtown Santa Rosa. Admission is free. 707/54-MUSIC.

An Evening with Peter Selz and Tom Golden
Art historian Peter Selz and collector Tom Golden discuss Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 6821 Laguna Park Way, Sebastopol. Admission is $12. 707/829-4797.

Art
The Sonoma County Repertory Theatre reprises the popular show Art, Oct. 5-6. Also, there'll be staged readings of new work by playwright-in-residence John Moran. 707/823-0177.
