A Message From the President

A showcase for Silicon Valley By Peter Giles The Tech Museum of Innovation will open its doors to the public on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, proudly showcasing the spirit of Silicon Valley. The new museum--with our four themed galleries, a traveling exhibit space called "Center of the Edge," the Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater and online exhibits--will inspire and amaze visitors from all around the world. Come and see the magic inside our Ricardo Legoretta-designed mango building for yourself. Control a robot, design a roller coaster, create an earthquake or explore space with a jet-pack simulator. Then, enter Northern California's only IMAX Dome Theater to experience the film Everest, sponsored by Metro Newspapers. This is a place for everyone, of all ages and of all interests. A stuffy, musty old museum, it ain't. Of course, this institution would not exist without the many partnerships with public and private organizations--from the city of San Jose and its Redevelopment Agency to our many friends in industry, academia and the arts and nonprofit community. The Tech is grateful for the tremendous support from the local community and the many Silicon Valley industries. The Tech was 10 years in the making: We will soon celebrate our opening.
