Local music collective Heavy Lemon has saved the best for last: its end of the year show at Playback Studios features San Jose shoegaze stars Natasha Sandworms. Rooted in a DIY bedroom pop ethos, Sandworms released her sophomore LP No Magic in June of 2022 after rethinking her relationship to New Age spirituality during the pandemic. The album is a clear-eyed follow-up to 2018’s self-recorded debut Single-Celled. With moody post-punk infused tracks like “Occam’s Stupid Razor” and “Smile and Wave, Boys,” Sandworms has proved that she’s on the scene to stay.
