The Spongebob Musical Revives the Sounds of Childhood

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Of course, Spongebob Squarepants. But as it turns out, the famous yellow sponge and all his friends have also found a home on the Lucie Stern Theater stage. Beginning Friday, The Spongebob Musical runs for three weekends of shows, with dazzling sets and costumes paired with eclectic music. The musical—a multi-award winner since its 2016 premiere—layers the craziest aspects of the 2000s animated show with newly implemented thematic elements and humor for older fans. Original songs from Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, They Might Be Giants, and more.
