Chuck Prophet first made his name as a member of seminal 90s psych-rock band Green on Red. From there, he struck out on his own as a singer-songwriter, releasing a host of records, including the recreation of a classic Waylon Jennings album, and performing live on the Late Show with David Letterman. A musician’s musician, many of Prophet’s compositions have been recorded by such names as Bruce Springsteen and Heart. With his band, the Mission Express (named after the bus line in San Francisco), Chuck Prophet will be gracing the stage at the first of a series of free concerts at the Mitchell Park Bowl in Palo Alto this week.
