At age three, Akiko Tsuraga began studying organ at the Yamaha Music School in her hometown of Osaka, Japan. As a major figure in New York’s jazz scene since 2001, Tsuruga has published ten acclaimed albums as a lead musician, received accolades from both the US and Japan and was hailed as “Queen of the Organ” by jazz great Lou Donaldson. She makes a single prized stop in San Jose this leg of her winter tour, playing with seasoned guitarist Bruce Forman, known for his western bebop band Cow Bop, and legendary drummer Akira Tana, whose drum work appears on over 200 albums.
