Venezuelan-born comedian Francisco Ramos has a sly grin and a willingness to pause and laugh at his ridiculousness in a charming and disarming way. Although he immediately jumps into his status as an immigrant and speaks with an accent that he can turn off hilariously, his comedy is based on universal themes like relationships, travel and the often clumsy attempts people make to understand each other. He seems uniquely equipped to make that weird MAGA uncle chuckle and maybe bump him to the left a notch or two. Ramos’s comedy doesn’t have to save the world—it does enough just being funny—but maybe?
