No musician embodies classic jazz stylings with inflections of modern sensibilities quite like bassist Noah Garabedian. He is audience-tested and critically approved: Garabedian is the 2022 Calouste Gulbenkian In View Grant recipient, the 2016 and 2022 Fulbright Specialist Grant recipient, and the 2011 International Society of Double Bass Competition finalist. Accolades aside, Garabedian’s bandleading and compositions easily speak for themselves. His ensemble’s music pushes boundaries, fusing complex melodies and rhythmic intensity with dynamic improvisation. His two albums, with the more recent Consider The Stars Beneath Us, embody these transformative soundscapes and have made him a sought-after collaborator for the likes of Ravi Coltrane, Kris Davis and Ralph Alessi.
