Thumbelina: A Fantasy Tale in Mountain View

Though not as famous as The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling or The Emperor’s New Clothes, Thumbelina is one of many classic fairy tales written by Hans Christian Andersen. The story involves a tiny girl the size of a thumb who’s born inside a flower to a lonely, old widow. After she falls in love with Prince Cornelius, she’s kidnapped by a toad and meets various animals in a forest before she’s reunited with her prince. This annual production by the Osipova Ballet, led by artistic director Marina Osipova, features students from the dance academy, which offers dance training to Bay Area kids and adults. Performances go until April 5.
