The cream of California’s creative crop is joining forces to present a special night of poetry and music. That crop includes Derrick C. Brown, who found his way to poetry while serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Brown’s storytelling, poetry, and comedy mashup earned him Paste Magazine’s 2023 Comedy Album of the Year. Ben Henderson is a prolific sign painter, graphic artist, and musician who has enraptured South Bay audiences with his raw, soulful songs for decades. The host, Mighty Mike McGee, is a powerful artist in his own right. Not only is McGee the former Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County, but he’s also one of the most decorated slam poets in history.
