Blackfest, the Bay Area’s largest free hip-hop/R&B festival, aims to connect Black communities throughout the Bay Area. Hosted by Stanford University’s Black Family Gathering Committee, this annual event celebrates and provides space for conscious consumption of Black culture and art. Along with a curated vendor marketplace, Blackfest also presents community performances such as the “Young, Gifted and Black” student showcase and the Divine Nine showcase, where newly inducted members of the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations perform synchronized strolls, step routines, and chants specific to their fraternity or sorority. This year’s festival headliners are Vince Staples and TiaCorine.
