Brandee Younger arrives in San Jose with a sophisticated musical education, a laundry list of impressive credits and a revolutionary approach to the jazz harp. Younger studied classical music at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, Connecticut, and was encouraged to explore jazz by legendary saxophonist Jackie McLean. This led to lauded collaborations with jazz musicians like Pharoah Sanders, Ravi Coltrane and Reggie Workman. After that, she explored music education by guest lecturing at various schools before joining the music faculty at New York University and the New School. Younger’s latest album, Brand New Life, establishes her place in the long and storied history of the jazz harp.
