Tribute bands are big business these days. Usually, it involves a group of musicians studying one group’s entire body of work and presenting it as authentically as possible. That is not the case with Crew of Flunkies. Their focus is on one single year, 1994. Many killer tunes came out that year, and they’ve studied ’em all—well, the alt-rock side of it, anyway. They’ll play select 1994 tunes by Green Day, the Offspring, Weezer, Stone Temple Pilots and more. Even better, Crew of Flunkies is a supergroup featuring members of local bands, such as the Pounders, 7th Street Big Band, Insolence, Love District, and Sole Jive.
