David Lang’s Before and After Nature at Stanford

It’s easy to look at someone’s bio and think, “What can’t they do?” Like David Lang. He’s not only a musician but a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and a Grammy Award winner. He’s also Oscar-nominated and has created a large body of work over his career. On Saturday, he premieres Before and After Nature, a meditation on the natural world. Lang met with environmental scholars, Stanford faculty, and students to craft prose based on what he had learned. The prose was then set to voice recordings and paired with visuals by video pioneer Tal Rosner.
