All across Latin America, people would give a limb for the chance to see Dread Mar I in a room the size of the Ritz. The Argentinian reggae star normally plays amphitheaters—places the size of Shoreline Amphitheatre. On YouTube, his videos have tens of millions of views. Some, like 2010 hit “Tu Sin Mi” have hundreds of millions. Though his most famous songs are romantic reggae ballads about love and loss, revolution and the fight for freedom are also frequent themes found floating atop his mellow, Latin-tinged island riddims.
