One of the heaviest influencers in funk, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic have been revolutionizing R&B and influencing artists since the ’70s. By now, many of Clinton’s songs have become near universal hits, like “(Not Just) Knee Deep,” “Give Up the Funk” and “One Nation Under a Groove” and many others have enjoyed a second life as samples in hip hop music, used by everyone from Dr Dre to Outkast to Missy Elliot. Their unique sound and style has transcended boundaries in both Black and white communities, bringing people of different demographics together for decades.
