Playwright and singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell’s Hadestown started as a concept album in 2010 before it premiered off-Broadway in 2016 and went on to win eight Tonys, including Best Musical. Narrated by Hermes, the musical tells the intertwining love stories between Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and his wife, Persephone. It is set in a dark, industrial-looking underworld, with music that blends folk and jazz. A version of the Greek myth was adapted into last year’s Netflix series, Kaos. This production features students ages 14-19 from local performing arts organization, Children’s Musical Theater. Hadestown goes until May 11.
