Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez launched their instrumental duo in Zürich in 2015. Their music is an inventive melding of seemingly disparate traditions: the rhythms of Latin America and the textures of spaghetti western soundtracks. Their earliest releases focused more on the Latin side of that equation, but beginning with 2020’s Hijos del Sol, Hermanos Gutiérrez began their exploration of musical ideas that evoked comparisons to Ennio Morricone. 2022’s El Bueno y el Malo built on that foundation, earning an Americana Album of the Year nomination. 2024’s acclaimed Sonido Cósmico added psychedelic flavors to the duo’s intriguing stylistic mix.
