You saw me a stranger, stumbling drunk and alone in downtown San Jose on a recent late Thursday night, and you tried to convince me to safely take a cab home. “Dude, you don’t want to get robbed or picked up by the cops for being intoxicated in public. You don’t need something like that on your record. Let’s get you home!” Stubborn drunk Irishman that I am, I insisted that I couldn’t leave my bike and that I would ride home to Santa Clara myself. You went to the point of getting me a cab, taking the wheel off of my bike so it could fit into the cab and possibly even helping me get home. I don’t remember much of the cab ride or actually getting home, but I do remember your compassionate demeanor and waking up the next morning with my wallet intact and my bike safely parked in the back yard. Thank you, stranger!
