.I Saw You: Coffeeshop Napkin Thief

Inside a coffeeshop in a well-heeled part of the South Bay, you were taking several napkins to wipe your face and clean your designer glasses where the rest of us would like to get creamer, milk, and sugar/sweetener—gross! You didn’t purchase anything, but it would probably be alright if you patronized this business in the past. But, no, that wasn’t enough for you. Before leaving you grabbed a huge stack of napkins that you discreetly tucked under your arm before slinking away. Judging by your designer top, shoes and aforementioned eyewear, I’m guessing you can well afford to purchase your own napkins. Either that, or make a purchase of some kind and ask if it’s OK to take that many napkins with you. And if it is permissible, leave a tip! The rest of us consumers are subsidizing your selfishness.

I Saw You is an anonymous “man on the street” column. Email your rants and raves about co-workers or any badly behaving citizens to iS*****@*******ws.com, or send to 380 S. First St, San Jose, 95113. Submissions should stick to about 100 words.
