Irish Pirate Band O’Craven Celtic Rocks at S27 Alehouse

Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, but how many are Irish Pirates? That’s right: Celtic Pirate Rock is the genre San Jose’s own O’Craven proudly claims. These scurvy dogs churn and swirl a swash-buckling fusion of Irish folk music, punk-inspired guitarwork and—of course—sea shanties. This Friday, they team up with local rockers Kook, who describe their sound as “rich, complicated, hypnotic, dark, spooky, trippy, sleazy, powerful, groovy, campy, heavy and loud.” Does a leprechaun-buccaneer need more convincing? Definitely not. This Friday the S27 stage becomes a boisterous boat flying O’Craven’s orange and green Jolly Roger.
