During the lockdowns of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, stand-up comedy took the backseat with the closed clubs and lack of audience. But it also saw the rise of viral sketch comedy with comedians creating videos for social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Enter Jon “Polar Bear” Gonzalez, who used the time to work on his half white, half-Hispanic material. However, since the world has reopened, Polar Bear worked on his non-family-friendly, R-rated comedy suitable for all adults who think a two-drink minimum is pre-gaming before the show. In 2023, he released his first comedy special, Whispanic Causing Panic, shot in his hometown of Houston, TX.
