Raised in Scotland’s remote and sparsely populated Outer Hebrides, folk singer Jule Fowlis was immersed in Scottish Gaelic language and traditions. In the early 2000s, Fowlis collaborated with Celtic groups Allt, Brolum, Cliar and Dòchas. Fowlis launched a solo career with 2005’s Mar a tha mo chridhe (As My Heart Is), following it up with five more albums to date. A two-time recipient of BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and five-time Scots Trad Music Award winner, Fowlis has won many other prestigious awards in recognition of her artistry. She was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2021.
