Men I Trust might sound like a tongue-in-cheek name for a band featuring a woman singer and male band members. Maybe there’s some of that in play. However, this Canadian electro-dreampop band originally chose the name when bassist Jessy Caron and keyboardist Dragos Chiriac (the male members) were in high school and wanted to form a band. They already knew they wanted the word “trust” in there as a positive affirmation and—as the story goes—chose “Men I Trust,” meaning the whole of humanity, not the gender. Still, it’s a great name for a band that has spacey lo-fi beats that are just poppy enough to get the audience dancing.
