With Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein starting to show up at advance screenings after two decades of anticipation, as well as the onset of spooky season, it’s a perfect time to visit all the various mutations of Mary Shelly’s masterpiece, and that list simply must include the sweet transvestite from transexual, Transylvania that is Tim Curry’s Frank-n-Furter in the one and only Rocky Horror Picture Show, a movie that, after bombing on release, has refused to die for fifty years now, rising again and again at midnight (and late afternoon) screenings for rowdy, participatory crowds around the world.
