A quiet but enduring force in the Bay Area music scene, Rory McNamara tragically passed away at his home on June 19, 2025. Born near London to British and Irish parents, McNamara found his voice in a high school skiffle band. After a serious motorcycle accident left him in a Spanish hospital for almost two years, McNamara solidified his calling through a leftover nylon string guitar. He began touring and traveling throughout Europe before arriving in San Francisco, where he became a staple of the city’s folk scene. His soulful voice spoke to generations of folk music fans. His memorial concert at Feldman’s Books will include live music and shared stories.
