The Sam Grisman Project (SGP) is an acoustic ensemble led by bassist Sam Grisman, son of legendary mandolinist David “Dawg” Grisman. Sam formed his band to honor his father’s legacy while using the group as a vehicle to express his own musical ideas. SGP features a fluid lineup, drawing from Grisman’s extensive connections to bring together the finest players. The group’s sound is a mixture of folk, old-time and bluegrass; the primarily acoustic SGP is renowned for its unpredictable improvisation, deep grooves and, at times, emotive moments.
