Pop culture reigns supreme. This Orange County, California ska-pop-punk outfit took its name from a scene in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and built its following through a cover of Dexys Midnight Runners’ 1982 hit “Come On Eileen” and a raft of songs featured on the soundtracks of other movies. The band’s 1997 debut It Means Everything sold a million copies. Save Ferris broke up in 2003 but returned a decade later, this time with only lead singer Monique Powell from the original lineup. In 2017 Save Ferris released the Checkered Past EP; a single, “Get Dancing” b/w “Ooh Ooh Rudi” was released in April 2025.
