Rocky Aoki may have changed American fusion dining with his restaurant Benihana, but his son Steve revolutionized electronic dance music. He’s been a serious proponent of the genre since his youth; Aoki produced records and organized underground concerts at UCSB’s Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. Since then, he’s become one of the highest-grossing EDM artists in history, topping the charts, earning Grammy nominations, and cultivating a live atmosphere of fun, spontaneity, and controlled chaos. To celebrate the vibrant heart of San Jose, the San Jose Earthquakes and the Urban Vibrancy Institute are bringing Aoki downtown for UVI’s celebrated Block Party Series. Aoki will be spinning an exclusive set amidst local vendors and new business tours.
