Rocking out in the way Hot Lunch does can be risky business—combining equal parts Blue Cheer, Hawkwind, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, biker flicks and brown acid, this type of music can easily seem like a parody or lack the type of musicianship and songwriting that made those bands legendary. Not so with the bay area’s own Hot Lunch. These dudes combine blindingly good chops, great songs and the type of groove that even your girlfriend will dig.
