Best of 2013: Derek See of the Bang Shares his Album Picks for 2013

Lady – Lady
The debut LP from soul duo Lady is the type of record that I can put on in any mood and just dig it. The overall sound of the album brings to mind the early 70s bubblegum soul that the likes of groups such as Honey Cone (“Want Ads”) dropped back in the day that sound great in any decade. There’s cool song craft, fabulous lyrics and luscious harmonies throughout. The chemistry between these two is infectious, but this LP is apparently going to be the only one combing the talents of Nicole Wray and Terri Walker, as Terri has left the duo. A pity!
