A string of superb underground 45s has left old-school soul fans clamoring for the debut LP of this Oakland based duo, and it didn’t disappoint. The album presents a few of those singles in new, beefier versions as well as a slew of new tracks that explore their late-60s and early-70s influenced jams. It also explores funkier and proto-disco sounds and succeed on all levels. The relaxed duo vocals bring to mind the type of records cut in Chicago and the bay area between 1968 and 1972 that make collectors such as myself salivate over.
