A troupe of ballerinas command the stage this weekend. Beginning Friday evening, Smuin Contemporary Ballet performs “Dance Series I,” its kickoff for the 2022-23 season. The program is described as a “mixed repertoire” performance, including “Take Five”—choreographed by Drag Race finalist Lady Camden—a world premiere performance by Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado, and a third performance by choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. The SF-based company has been hard at work this summer, with continued updates via Instagram of the troupe’s plans for how to set the stage on fire this season.
