Though not as popular as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s first children’s novel was 1961’s James and the Giant Peach. The story follows a young English boy who crawls inside a peach the size of a house and goes on an adventure with five garden bugs. They survive the ocean and the Empire State Building. The story was adapted into a 1996 film and 2010 musical, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a book by Timothy Allen McDonald. This production features students ages 7 to 10 from the local performing arts organization, Children’s Musical Theater. Performances go until June 29.
