Known as one of the world’s premier fado singers, Mariza continues the traditional music of her native Portugal. Raised in a musical family, it was almost as if she were born to sing. At a young age, her repertoire already included gospel, jazz, and soul. She has performed around the world, from Carnegie Hall to Royal Albert Hall and Moscow International House of Music. And this week, the folks in Silicon Valley are lucky enough to have her on the Central Coast thanks to Stanford Live.
