At 19, she was the youngest competitor at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where she brought home the silver medal as well as the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music, and the Beverley Taylor Smith Award for the Best Performance of a New Work.
