Marsha Warfield at Stanford

Back in the ’80s, Marsha Warfield was the acidly hilarious bailiff on Night Court. She started as a stand-up comedian, winning the San Francisco International Comedy Competition in 1979 and appearing on the Richard Pryor show in 1977. It was only in 2017 that Warfield came out as gay, and in recent years she has been able to speak freely onstage about her life. Warfield is a pioneer and legend in comedy, able to talk about the civil rights movement, Oprah and what it means to be in her seventh decade, all in the same breath.
