Barefoot in the Park wasn’t Neil Simon’s first play, but it was his longest-running production, and Mike Nichols’ Broadway debut as a director, earning him a Tony award in 1964. The story revolves around bickering newlyweds Paul and Corie. He’s a lawyer who’s too stiff, and she’s a free spirit who wants him to loosen up. Their marriage is tested, especially after they move into a small, rundown five-story walk-up apartment in New York. Directed by Dave Leon, this staging features Santa Clara Players actors Sarah Birdsall and Patrick Idleman. Performances go until March 14.
