The first Tim Burton movie adapted into a musical was 2003’s Big Fish. But the director’s far more famous film, Beetlejuice, was also made into a musical. With a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, and music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect, the 2019 production garnered eight Tony nominations and follows the familiar story of a deceased couple whose ghosts haunt the Deetz family, including everyone’s favorite sullen Goth girl, daughter Lydia, with the help of a demon spirit named Beetlejuice. Directed by Catie Davis, this touring version features actors Ryan Stajmiger, Leianna Weaver, David Wilson, Kaitlin Feely, Jeff Brooks and Bailey Frankenberg. Performances go until April 5.
