As Happy Dog Duo, Eric Tran and Nathan Cheung offer a rare musical combination of humor and classical skill with their legendary four-hand, two-piano performances. Attending and then graduating from Stanford with music degrees came deep into their collaboration: the pair has played piano together around the globe for two decades, since they were both in middle school. While they can wow academics with virtuosic renditions of the classics, their secret weapon may just be the lighter fare. As they explain, “The name Happy Dog comes from their eponymously titled 30-second compositional ‘masterpiece,’ Happy Dog. Neither Nathan nor Eric has any dogs.”
