Motivational speakers are out; demotivational speakers are in. Good thing stand-up comedian Masood Boomgaard has perfected his alter ego “Self-help Singh,” who specializes in satirizing modern wellness wisdom for the good of humanity. Boomgaard’s brilliantly irreverent persona has reached millions online and thousands more through the past decade of his professional comedy career. Though he seems to prefer the online format (doable from his kitchen in South Africa with his cat nearby), he is emerging for a run of live shows.
