Motherboards in San Jose

Documentaries and books have spotlighted much of Silicon Valley’s history as a technological hub, but SJMA’s new exhibition Motherboards focuses on women’s contributions to the industry. Artists from California and beyond use their installations, videos, and textiles to map an extensive network, connecting laboratories and garages to the vital work performed by women at looms, desks, kitchens, and assembly lines in Silicon Valley. This opening celebration for Motherboards and sister exhibition Move the Plot (a solo show by Christine Howard Sandoval), features music by Milk Monk and a special performance by one of the exhibition’s artists, Sarah Buckius. Goes until Jan 10, 2027.
