Joe DiPietro’s 1998 play Over the River and Through the Woods centers on single, 29-year-old Nick, whose two sets of intrusive, Italian-American grandparents in New Jersey come up with a scheme to keep him from moving to Seattle for a job promotion. DiPietro’s other works include the musicals I Love, You’re Perfect, Now Change, the short-lived Diana, based on the life of Princess Diana, and Memphis, which won four Tonys. Directed by Jeffrey Bracco, this production by City Lights features actors Karen DeHart, John Mannion, Deb Anderson, Joseph “Joe” Walters, Filip Hofman and Delaney Bantillo. Performances go until Dec. 21.
