.Ballimaaraan in San Jose

This winter, prolific Indian actor, playwright and songwriter Piyush Mishra imports his live concert Ballimaaraan in the US for the first time. A celebration of 19th-century Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, the show defies genres by merging a full band with Mishra’s conversational lyricism. The visionary artist is known for his combination of hard-hitting political commentary and humor. Ballimaaraan premiered in 2016 and quickly gained a cult following, with high-energy songs like “Aarambh” and “Husna” winning over younger generations throughout India. Now it’s time for American audiences to see what all the buzz is about. (AM)
