Salo Panto is a psychedelic rock band with shapeshifting powers and chameleon-like appeal who released their debut album Parallel Narratives in 2023 with great fanfare. The songs feature intricate, interwoven guitar work, dreamy lyrics and plenty of crashing percussion. On the title track, an upbeat tune filled with lovely layers of horns and cascading strings, they sing about letting it all go: “Don’t want to hear anything about the shape I’m in.” Joe Garwig writes the songs with bandmates Max Doyle, Ed Beach and David Kudelka, bringing the Pacific Northwest psychedelia into full form.

Addie Mahmassani is a poet based in Santa Cruz. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently an MFA student in creative writing at San Jose State University. There, she is a Teaching Associate as well as the lead poetry editor of Reed Magazine, California's oldest literary journal. She also surfs, sings and loves a part-sheepdog named Lou.
